Christians live as aliens and strangers in this world, sojourners - just passing through, on the way to heaven. We have a sure hope of sharing in Jesus' resurrection, but we expect to be tested while we wait. The apostle Peter wrote to Christians scattered through the Roman world, reminding them of the salvation they have and encouraging them to persevere despite sufferring and opposition. God still speaks to us through those words, and there is much we can learn.
